What is Happiness Retreat? 

Happiness Retreat is a 3 day program taught by Art of Living teachers. In this course, participants get a chance to learn the world's most powerful breathing technique called Sudarshan Kriya. Designed by Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, this course helps to effectively reduces stress and become more happy, dynamic, productive and efficient. Yes, in just 3 days. 

What's the location of this program?

The next Happiness Retreat will be conducted at the serene Art of Living International Centre in Bangalore. Yes, it's a residential program. Imagine a place far from the city's hustle, where peace and natural beauty combine to create the ideal environment for you to relax and reset. This quiet and picturesque place offers the perfect opportunity for the rejuvenating getaway you've always dreamed of. This is the vacation that you have always longed for but never got a chance. Now is the time. 

What's the duration of the program and what happens throughout the day?

It's a full-day course. We will start at morning (around 7 AM) and will continue till evening (mostly 8 PM). We have a line of exciting and interesting activities ready for you beside the course curriculum (Yoga + Sudarshan Kriya + Meditations + Life hacks + Super fun games etc.).

What's the course fee?

The course fee varies based on your choice of accommodation. All options include the course fees, stay (21st-25th August, Thur-Mon morning), and meals for the full duration of the program. Here is a breakdown of the course fee:

       Accommodation Type Fee (INR)​

  • Four-sharing (Non-AC Stay) ₹4,800

  • Triple-sharing (Non-AC Stay) ₹5,500

  • Triple-sharing (AC Stay) ₹6,300

  • Two-sharing (AC Stay) ₹7,400

You can also opt for Non-residential. In that case, you have to pay ₹3,200. This fee includes your course fee and meals for 3 days.
 

Why take a course about breathing? I’ve been breathing my whole life!

While breathing happens automatically, most of us are unaware that working with the breath can give us the ability to manage our mind and emotions. In fact, every emotion you experience has a corresponding rhythm in the breath. By changing the rhythms of breath, you can change your emotions.

For example, you’ll learn the breath of peace, which makes both inhale and exhale long and smooth, bringing you back to calm and relaxed mind. Another technique, we call “Yogic Coffee” will give you a boost of energy and focus (and no caffeine jitters). The centerpiece of the course, Sudarshan Kriya, uses specific rhythms of breath to get you unstuck and take you effortlessly into a state of meditation.

Can you tell me a little more about Sudarshan Kriya?

After teaching meditation for many years, Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar developed The Happiness Program and its central breathing technique, Sudarshan Kriya, which effectively reduces stress and seems to take people effortlessly into a state of deep meditation.

Sudarshan Kriya, often referred to as "SKY," is a unique and powerful rhythmic breathing technique that is the cornerstone of the Art of Living's programs.

Sudarshan Kriya is not simply a breathing exercise; it's a specific sequence of breathing patterns that aims to harmonize the body, mind, and emotions. The term "Sudarshan" translates to "beautiful vision" or "right perception," and "Kriya" means "purifying action." In essence, it's an action that helps individuals gain clarity, peace, and a better understanding of themselves and the world.

The breath acts as a vital link between the body and the mind. Just as emotions affect breathing patterns, consciously altering breathing rhythms can positively influence mental and emotional states. Sudarshan Kriya aims to release deeply ingrained stresses and negative emotions, allowing individuals to experience greater joy, energy, and a sense of "coming back home" to their true nature.

It's important to note that while Sudarshan Kriya is a powerful technique, it's not a substitute for medical treatment. Individuals with specific health concerns are advised to consult their doctor and inform their Art of Living instructor about any health issues.

What happens after the course?

Now that you have learned Sudarshan Kriya, you can practice that at home. At the end of the course, teacher will give you a set of home-going instructions to help you stay committted to your daily practice. 

Can I attend the course even if I do not have any prior meditation experience?

Yes. Of course. Come with a clean slate of mind and bright smile. Rest will be taken care of. 

Who is eligible for this course?

You must be over the age of 18 to be eligible for this course.

Can I repeat the course after taking it before?

Many people enjoy repeating the Happiness Program and find they get something new out of it each time.
